Cebu Pacific: Domestic Airlines Cheapest Airline Flights

March 1996:  Cebu Pacific (CEB), as one of the Philippines domestic airlines, introduced the pioneering concept of “low fare, great value” as a marketing strategy.  They offered the cheapest airline flights which were very affordable and became a hit to the locals.  Many of my friends and relatives eagerly took advantage of the promos that were made available.  On November 2001,  Cebu Pacific (CEB) launched its International Flights or Operations as well.

Book Early: The low rates or cheap flights make it possible for people to travel more often.  But these low fares should be bought way ahead of time.  If you book only a few days before your scheduled flight, discounted rates may no longer be available.

Online Booking as an Option: I don’t know about your experience but I find it really tiring to be calling the Cebu Pacific main office or the call centers since their phones are very busy.  I find it much easier to book online, pay using a credit card and print a copy of my flight/transaction.

Seniors Citizens Tip:  Senior citizens can avail of the 20% discount.  However, you have to buy this over the counter or the telephone so you can tell the person you are availing of this discount.  If you book your ticket online, you can’t avail of the discount.

Service: When Cebu Pacific started out, I recalled being satisfied with the fact that the flights were always on time.  But after several years, complaints started pouring in.   Delayed or canceled flights or poor service are some of the problems that passengers face.  Some passengers were satisfied and pleased with the service though while others were annoyed, inconvenienced and extremely furious!

I know that for  many passengers, affordability counts.   But I guess that is the constant challenge that Cebu Pacific needs to face:  Along with affordability must also be paired off with excellent customer service.

I am thankful that Cebu Pacific has now flights to Surigao. When PAL and then later on Asian Spirit closed the Surigao offices, we were back to riding the boats. So tiring.

  • Johnny

My trips with Cebu Pacific were generally okay except for delayed flights a few times.

I’m happy with Cebu Pacific. I paid low fares so I didn’t have high expectations related to passenger service. I guess that is the reason why I didn’t have any annoying experiences with them. In fact, I can recall myself happily joining their inflight games where I won some giveaway prizes. :)

  • Tina: You are from Surigao too? My family and relatives travel to Surigao as well and like you I am grateful there is a flight going there. Hahahaha PAL and Asian Spirit had to close due to very few passengers flying. I guess with Cebu Pacific’s affordable rates many people are flying now. Thanks for dropping by to leave a comment.

  • Johnny: Thanks for the feedback. 😀

  • Hi Erwin! Hahahaha so low fares means low expectations huh? 😀 Speaking of their inflight games, I too remember winning a Cebu Pacific t-shirt one time. Thanks for your feedback. :)

  • I always travel Cebu Pacific =) Yes, there was a time I spent two hours waiting for a plane but there’s always a good book to read (and I can’t go around yelling like other people, hehe).

I also have a tip: Go Lite! Besides, who wants to travel like an anchor so heavy? 😉

  • Hi Dave, a good book rather than getting annoyed sounds like a good idea! So true about traveling light, girls, we should remember this tip! Hahahaha Thanks for dropping by to leave a comment.

  • My few experiences with Cebu Pacific have been okay. Nothing to rave about, but okay. :) And their promo fares have made air travel a lot more affordable. :)

Although I agree that it is wise to book your flight early, I’ve kind of had a “bad” experience with this. 😛 Because once I bought my ticket a couple of months in advance, then about a month before my scheduled departure date, Cebu Pacific had a cheaper promo rate than the one I had availed. 😛

  • Affordable – I guess that is what matters most to many. Thanks for the input regarding the booking early thingy. You know with my brother it was the other way around. He kept saying “let us wait for a promo to appear” but the price got more expensive. Yours was the other way around. The promo arrived after you bought the ticket! 😀 Geesh! So it’s anybody’s guess.
